♨ Coffee Stain by Joseph 3D Art

3D latte art fever has been a fever in KL since a few months back
for some reason I have yet to develop the craziness for 3D latte art
most probably because I hate foam-like feeling
that's why I never get to try them

so today
my friend's birthday party is in Soho KL
and so I thought like
why not go and hit a try
since I'll be around there already =)

According to my friend
you can order any shapes that you want them to do
so I googled it up on my way there
and saw this ziraffe 3D is a HARD CORE one
and I decided to challenge the barista there
*evil laugh*

too bad they told me they can't do it for me
probably really too hard core haha!
so I requested for a mainstream Bathing-Kitty kind of art
and yeap they made it for me
nicely done
awesome =)
i think i spent like 15min or more taking pics of the cup
haha! plus selfies  pics of me and my cuppa hot choc
#girlsbringgirls

Hot Chocolate plus 3D art : RM15

So for your information
Coffee Stain by Joseph provides 3D art service for
ONLY HOT CHOCOLATE order
at first I thought any foam stuff can be done (eg. Latte...)
but no, ONLY hot chocolate
plus, there is another RM5 charge if you want a 3D art
which I think it is reasonably okay

 - the total of one cup of hot chocolate is RM15 -

the barista(s) in Publika branch is beyond friendly
they actually get back to you and ask you how do you think about the art
do you like it etc
and they explained to me why they couldnt do the ziraffe one for me
top notch service =)

Hence, my rating :

Hot Chocolate : 4.5 / 5
Service : 4.8 / 5
Ambience : 4.2 / 5
Price :  4 / 5
Tips : their WIFI is awesomely FAST!

♨ Acme Bar and Coffee, KL Brunch

Acme Bar and Coffee, also known as ABC
is one of the upcoming brunch place in KL (or rather, famous enough to be one already)
It is situated in The Troika, around KLCC area

I personally love the interior design of this cafe
apparently they won an award for casual dining restaurant with best stylish design
long wait though
didn't expect to have to queue for 20+min just to get a table for brunch at 2pm LOL

we were directed to our table upstairs
loving the twirling stairs
but my friends and I love the deco downstairs more
upstairs was rather, normal =P

 so here's our food!
coffee to kick start the day at 2pm!
lazy bugs eh =P

Acme Breakfast Club (RM33)
you get to choose your own bread, eggs, meat and sides
Food was not bad though =)

Acme Breakfast Club RM33

Tuna Melt Sandwich (RM25)
Tuna, capers, peppers on sourdough bread with toasted cheese on top
ahh, I miss the bread back in melbourne =(
oh well, my friend commented that this is nice too!

Tuna Melt Sandwich RM25

Baked Egg Pan (RM27)
Medley of red peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, shredded smoked duck on tomato olive sauce, organic eggs and garlic toast
My friend ordered this cuz of the presentation of the food
haha she found it from one of the hashtag via instagram
it was quite unique though, very egg-ish and yummy

Baked egg pan RM27

Pear and Buckwheat Pancakes (RM25)
Organic buckwheat flour pancakes with pear topped with cranberry butter and maple syrup
I personally think the pear tasted a bit weird
haha, cuz it was cooked.
or maybe it's just me, that can't get use to the taste.
However, the buckwheat pancakes were good
very wheaty-taste though!

Pear and Buckwheat Pancakes (RM25)

Sizzling Brownies and Oreo Ice Cream (RM19)
served on hot pot, with chocolate sauce
they actually pour the chocolate sauce on your table
and the sauce goes "zziiiziiiiziii~" all the way till the hot pot cools down
haha!

We find this brownies rather disappointing though
presentation of food was awesome
but the brownies was a bit too dry in nature

Sizzling Brownies and Oreo Ice Cream RM19

myriad cakes =)
wanted to try a few slices but we didn't get to do so at the end
too full to stuff dessert in after a huge brunch meal =P

In a nutshell, the food were not bad but not screaming yummy
However, I would like to go back with The Man for their dinner menu!
Apparently the dinner setting is quite romantic according to my friends!

♨ Nutmeg, Bangsar Village II

Discovered Nutmeg a few days ago when I was walking around in Bangsar Village II
the aroma of the food was really tempting
but I was already very full that time
so I decided to come back some other day

so yesterday
when me and my friend were thinking of where to eat
and I say "let's go try Nutmeg!"
and yeap, here we are!

All day breakfast and brunch cafe, Nutmeg Bangsar Village II

I personally love the design of the cafe
especially the NUTMEG word
very creative
Lotsa colourful paintings was hung up to "lighten" up the brown coloured cafe
and at the end of the cafe
there was a garden-theme room
nice =)

The waiters are very friendly
and attentive as well

I ordered a Nutmeg Big Breakfast (RM28+)  for myself
2 eggs of any style, lamb sausage, confit mushrooms, roasted garlic tomatoes,
hashed potatoes, house-cured salmon and toasted brioche

*Brioche : a French enriched bread, with high egg and butter content, with rich and tender crumb

My friend says that the big breakfast is better in Antipodean
but i do really love the Brioche (aka the bread)
at first i thought it was a toasted flattened potato bread (LOL) cuz the scent of the bread was really good

Nutmeg Big Breakfast (RM28+)
My friend's Beef Lagsana with Cheddar cheese (RM23+)
it was not bad
and very tomato-ish
VERY.
haha!

Beef Lagsana with Cheddar cheese (RM23+)
We were quite full after the main
but really tempted to try their dessert
We weren't sure what to order since this is only our first visit
so we tried the Sticky Date Pudding with butterscotch sauce (RM13+)

and it was SURPRISINGLY NICE
really nice
like literally REALLY
it wasn't too sweet
just nice
soft with some crunchy bits from the nuts on top

yeah, it was REALLY nice
MUST TRY i can say
(and I will definitely go back just for this!)

Sticky Date Pudding with butterscotch sauce (RM13+)
The waiter told us that the Orange Cake there is really good
okay, I will definitely come back and try all their cakes
there is one Milo Dinosaur cake that took my interest
as well as a Papaya Cake

Next visit! who's in?

My rating :

Food : 4.5 / 5
Service : 4.8 / 5
 Price : 3.8 / 5 (typical KL brunch price)
Ambience : 4 / 5

♨ Rockpool Bar and Grill, Melbourne

something that I won't forget
my last dinner with The Man in Melbourne before I leave this wonderful city
and continue our long distance relationship again

The Man bought me here for dinner
I can only say that it is an awesome place
with awesome company =)

Rockpool Bar & Grill, Crown's Melbourne

Rockpool Bar and Grill was apparently inspired by steakhouses of North America
their menu is just one piece of paper
simple, yet informative

it was a busy night
consider the fact that it was a tuesday night

Entrance to the restaurant
Wine menu was served
and there was actually someone that is "wine expert"
and you can request for an expert waiter if you have any enquiries regarding the wine menu

loaded with lots of drinks names
which I don't really know them
so as usual, The Man be the man that order stuffs for me =)

a 25yrs Renier XO ($20) was served
very strong, but nice

25 yrs Renier XO
and here comes the bread
the only thing I can recall about this bread is
WE COULDNT STOP ASKING FOR MORE!
the bread is sooo yummy
so crusty and soft inside
seriously, I love the yeast hint of taste inside!

our cold appetizer :

Alaskan King Crab with Avocado, Cherry Tomatoes, Jalapenos, Coriander and Lime
very unique and nice
The Man was trying to find out how they cook
so that he can try it at home next time!
(really?! I might finish everything before you get to eat'em!)

Alaskan King Crab cold appetizer ($35)
for our main
at first The Man thought of ordering some lamb / pork / beef
and I saw this special thing in the menu
and yea, why not we try something that both of us never try before right?

so we ordered Abalone Steak (for 2 pax serving)
it was very buttery in taste
smooth, chewy and what can I say? Totally unique!
I think I had a foodgasm that night
this was a good main dish!

Abalone Steak (apprx $ 130)
and last but not least
can't leave the place without my favey Creme Brulee right =)

Singleton Whisky and Prune Creme Brulee
the Creme Brulee was a generous serving
texture was good
(personally like Melbourne Supper Club's Creme Brulee more!)

Singleton Whisky and Prune Creme Brulee ($21)
I thought I will not be full after the dinner
with the fine dining portion right
but somehow I was quite full
probably because of the butter-ish abalone!

went out to enjoy the breeze along Yarra River
loving those simple moments where we just get to walk together
side by side =)

an awesome memory indeed!

My Rating :

Price : 3.5 / 5

♨ Salon Du Chocolat, Publika

I found this shop randomly
not by reading any food blogs or by word of mouth
just randomly walked in and ordered a few things from there

since then, I fell in love with this shop!

Salon Du Chocolat, Publika Solaris Dutamas

I will combine a few of my visits into a blog post =)

This chocolate cafe is rather small
last time they used to sell chocolates only
then they open a cafe as well
and sell what the norms love now, which is crepes and waffles

It is always in a long queue
many people waiting outside
cuz they only have 5 or 6 tables inside if I'm not mistaken

have a good look at the menu!

during my first visit there
I had a good chat with the owner of this shop
he is a funny and friendly guy
and I did suggested that he should expand his shop
and he said yeap, they are planning to expand =)
and the new shop will be in Publika as well, but a bigger one =)
but after a few months I went back again
it is still at the old place
Hopefully in my next visit they will have a larger shop!
cuz i would really sit down for a long time and chill with my friends there!
(always have to finish fast and leave cuz you'll feel terrible for those people that are waiting outside, standing =P)

Chocolate Crepe (RM14.90)
with dark - milk - white choc on top =)

the first time i went there, they ran out of white chocolate
and they substituted with strawberry flavoured chocolate for us!
quite interesting!

Waffle Stick (RM9.50)
I still remember how it tasted like
the waffle was soooo soft and nice
it was just so well done!

Chocolate Waffle (RM15.50)
half a waffle round with dark and white choc at one side
and milk and white choc at the other side
I personally love the milk choc side more
as it feels "richer" and yummier!
but my friends loved the dark choc side more
cuz they say it is not too MUCH for them
=P

In all, if compare Dip N Dip @ Bangsar with this shop
I personally like this one more
but it has less choices of food, and less spacious shop
I love it more cuz the chocolate feels more...addictive
and not too sweet , and less "sickly" feel

Food : 5 / 5

♨ Dip 'N Dip, Bangsar

I have always been visiting Salon Du Chocolat in Publika
selling almost the same menu from what they have in Dip N Dip
and the reason why I didnt visit Dip N Dip before this is because
my friend told me that Salon Du Chocolat is better
and Dip N Dip can sometimes, be too sweet

so one fine day after we had dinner in Bangsar area
we need a second round cafe to chill in
and we decided to go Dip N Dip

we reached there around 8.30pm
fortunately there are still places
cuz once we sat down and order
around 9pm +
the crowd started to come and there is a long queue outside the shop

so, moral of the story : come before 8.30pm ^.^

we ordered those "standard" menu from what other people normally posted online
didn't order hot choc drink cuz my sis said that it will be TOO much
and TOO full to have desserts and hot choc drink as well

so these are what we ordered, which price stated.

Brownies crepe, a crepe with generous flow of white, dark and milk chocolate
and a thin layer of brownie inside the crepe
nice!

Brownies Crepe RM28.50
and here we have our Brownies
with vanilla ice cream =)
the texture is good
slighty crusted outside and soft inside
too bad i forgot the price for this =P

Brownies

Dip N Dip Waffle
which Banana, Pineapple, Strawberries, Kiwi and
again, generous portion of milk chocolate
they actually pour the choc in front of you!

In my personal opinion
this waffle is rather normal only
and fruits are fairly sour =P
which maybe is a good thing to neutralize the sweetness you got from chocolate =P

Dip N Dip Waffle RM39.50
In all, they were good and nice
but I personally prefer Salon Du Chocolat more as it is not as sweet!
haha however Dip N Dip has more choices
and the cafe is definitely more spacious than Salon Du Chocolat

Rating :

Food : 3.8 / 5
Price : 3.5 / 5
Ambience : 3.8 / 5
Service : 4 / 5

Fri : 2.30pm - 12.00am

Parking : as usual it can be quite hard to search for parking in Jalan Telawi, so usually I will park in Bangsar Village Shopping Center and walk over to the shop. Some of my friends did illegal parking at the nearby housing area roadside too! =P

♨ Upstairs Cafe, Subang

Lately, this place has been my "i-love-to-hang-out" place
been there a few times, but only this time I remember to bring my camera out
=P

Presenting Upstairs Cafe, at Subang

The Interior
To be honest, their menu choices are not thaaaat many
but I personally think that their food is cheap and above average as well
They have main dishes, all sort of drinks, cakes, cookies, cupcakes etc
I get to know this place because I heard that their Red Velvel cake & carbonara is really nice

My favey drink whenever I visit Upstairs Cafe
Chilly, and nice.

Snapple Lemonade RM7.50
Array of desserts for all the sweet tooth out there!

For their Daily Specials Menu
they have :

Seafood Aglio Olio RM12.90
Chicken Arrabiata RM9.90
Spaghetti Carbonara RM9.90
Spaghetti Bolognese RM8.90
Roast Beef Sandwich RM8.00
Roast Chicken Sandwich RM8.00
Mushroom Soup RM5.50

The seafood aglio olio was not bad
Not too oily, and the pasta was just nice to chew
but bear in mind the portions are not very huge
it is normal portion, but some guys might think it is a bit too small for them =P

Seafood Aglio Olio
Chicken Arrabiata (spicy)
It was quite spicy towards the end =P
but my friend loved this!
It was not quite a bolognese taste, but something more than that
more "asianified" kind of spiciness inside

Chicken Arrabiata
Spaghetti Carbonara
It might be the only Carbonara that I can finish
without feeling "too much"
you know, when you get too huge portion of carbonara with ultra cheeses on top
sometimes it feels a bit too MUCH at the end
but this was just nice
and the cream is smooth, milky and not too cheesy

Spaghetti Carbonara
and the desserts!

No complain for the red velvet cake
It was soft and nice
moist and buttery scented
I really love the moistness of the cake
and we had two!

Red Velvet Slice RM8
and the Brownies!
It took them a while to heat it up
we waited
but it is worth waiting!
the Brownie is crusted a little at the outside
but chocolatey soft in the middle

Brownies RM5.50
So here's how I'll rank this cafe :

Food : 4 / 5
Price : 4.5 / 5
Ambience : 4.5 / 5
Service : 4 / 5

Upstairs Cafe
1st Floor, 12A, Jalan SS12/1B

Operating hours : Mon - Sat 10.00am-11.00pm
(breakfast menu only from 10.00am - 1.00pm)

Parking : Anywhere near the cafe
Ps : The cafe is just within 200m radius from Sime Darby Medical Center, depending on which direction you come from! haha!

♨ Dining In The Dark, Changkat Bukit Bintang

heard of this Dining In The Dark concept from The Man quite some time ago
wanted to try but never get to do it

Dining in the dark is actually quite an interesting gastronomic concept
they place you in a total pitch black dark room
not even a hint of light inside
served by experienced waiters
or what they called : The Darkness Experts

the main aim is to lock all your senses
take you away from all the distractions
vision especially
and so you can enjoy / appreciate / wonder the food in total darkness
which, only your taste buds are working hard to guess what is in your mouth

hence, you are supposed to get a "better" or more "prominent" taste of your food =D

oh not forgetting
you can use your fine touch sensation
transmitted by your posterior column medial lemniscus pathway
to FEEL the food
before you put them into contact with your teeth, gingival and glossal area =D
so that you can get a better "outlook" of your food

geeky much?
haha

so here is the entrance of Dining In The Dark
and yes the place is called "Dining In The Dark" *LOL*
entrance via Werner's in Changkat Bukit Bintang
right opposite of Radius International Hotel
(you can park you car there! but we did an illegal parking beside the road instead)

According to our waiter aka the Darkness Expert : Darius (he is ultra friendly!)
Dining In The Dark here is the 9th in the world
opened 11 months ago in December 2012
pioneer in Malaysia
but after they started the concept
a lot others started the same concept as well

we were ushered into a waiting room
where they served us with Cranberry juice and cocktail (a mixture of vodka, orange and...i forgot)
and we waited there for almost 30 minutes for them to set up our table

so this is the teaser menu they gave us
nothing that give you a hint of what you are going to eat next!
fun much!
the waitress asked us whether we are allergic to any food or not
or whether you have any food restrictions due to religion
so that they can modify your menu according to your needs

they gave us a few games to play with during our wait
an eye mask too! to let you pre-feel the darkness that you are going into

some block games that they provided us with
TRUST me, master this!
because this is how they are going to serve your food inside
and you will have to be able to place your plates back to the dented area on the wooden block haha!

and so, we started our journey
before going into the dungeon (i call it a dungeon LOL)
they have lockers outside for you to lock your belongings
so, no hp, no camera
no pictures produced for my blog *sad*
but you couldnt be flashing your lights all way through and disturbed other people senses right?
haha!

before entering
we ordered out drinks
I ordered a Australian White
and my friend ordered a Italy Red =D
(the italian red wine was better though!)

so Darius brought us in
hands on each other's shoulder
once we entered the dark room
walked ultra slow, move 1cm by 1cm lol
we can hear a lot of human voices
but see nothing! zlitch!
pretty scary actually!
(how if someone wants to poison you or strangle you from the back right!?)

sat down on our table
Darius explained our cutlery and glass location on the table

and we have our food served!

and yeap, I used my fingers to eat! LOL
imagine if they can see me from the cctv
wearing such nice dress
but using hands to eat
hahahha! so ugly!

i'm not going to reveal what I ate
you should go and experience the food yourself =D
but in all, it was a mixture of a lot of familiar food taste
but I couldn't tell what are they
Darius did chit chat with us in the middle of our meal
asking us what we think we have eaten
we did quite a number of guesses
some right some wrong some totally NOT EXPECTED it to be!!!
hahahah seriously!
and Darius did told us about what we actually ate
very interesting!

I did asked a lot of questions like
1. How can you see in the dark?
2. Can you see me?
3. Are you wearing a ultra-power goggle?
and we almost asked whether are you a unique individual?
(lol my friend has this idea where the waiters might be visually impaired personnels / blind cuz they can move so well in dark!!)

but they are not blind
cuz the waiters look totally normal under normal lights before we entered
and they say they are trained to walk in dark
and because they are so familiar with the place already
they don't need a goggle
even if they do they wouldnt want to wear also
cuz the goggles are bad for eye sight according to them!

I SALUTE. REALLY.

after 2 hours of dining
we came out from the dungeon
and *seriously* i have serious eye sore with the normal amount of lights outside
severe bilateral miosis for my iris plus almost a 100% of "voluntary ptosis"
headache as well!! haha!
too much of lights suddenly!

but it was an awesome experience!!

They showed us pictures and descriptions of our food outside
interesting much
some dont really taste like what I ate! haha!

Before I end my blog post, here are some details on this place :
Price : RM98++ per pax
(fixed menu, can change according to your needs)
Drinks are not included, so drinks have to pay extra
our total bill came up to around RM280 for two
