♨ Nasi Lemak Cheesecake, Lepaq Lepaq, Jalan Ceylon

After watching my friend's Youtube video on Nasi Lemak Cheesecake Tasting
I have been looking for this place
stumbled upon Lepaq Lepaq in one of my midnight instagram surfing
and here I am
mega hyped up to try the legendary Nasi Lemak Cheesecake

Side note :

"If Nasi Lemak is voted as one of the healthiest breakfast in the world
does that mean a Nasi Lemak Cheesecake is even healthier?
well other than a "balanced" distribution of nutrients
you have cheese & chocolate added in this cheesecake."

OK. I was just crapping.

Back to topic
Lepaq Lepaq is located in Jalan Ceylon
a 3-5min drive away from Changkat area
It is a little bungalow standing proud in Jalan Ceylon
and you can't possibly miss it because they have this
LEPAQ LEPAQ blue words staring at you.

Front Face of Lepaq Lepaq
Walking into Lepaq Lepaq gives you this
"ultra-instagrammable" ambience
you know, that kind of colours
and arrangements
that will do well with just a click of VSCO filter

yeah, my point is
it's a minimalist design
obviously my kind of design

Open Concept Kitchen

View from 1st Floor

1st floor dining area
 OK enough of interiors
here come the glorious Nasi Lemak Cheesecake
(RM15.00 per slice)

So, sometimes during weekends
they can be very packed and busy
and there's a possibility that this cheesecake is sold out

what I did was,
I called up the cafe 30min before my arrival
and they actually offered to reserve a piece of cheesecake for me!
how nice of them!

Whole Cake

 Well honestly,
it doesn't really taste very cheesy
the top green translucent layer is cucumber gelatin
sprinkled with anchovies + chilli flakes (not spicy)
middle beige part is a mixture of cheese and glutinous rice
(yes you can actually bite chunks of rice)
peanuts below it
and then the dark brown layer beneath is something chocolate / brownies

it kindda turn you off when you think of
Nasi Lemak + Chocolate right =P

Nasi Lemak Cheesecake (RM15)
Review of this cake from me and my friend :

1. It is Okayy.
2. Yeah just Okayy.
3. Nope. DO NOT attempt to eat the top cucumber layer by itself. I'm doing you a favour, just trust me in this.
4. It kindda blend well if you eat all the layers together, but it turns weird if you separate them
5. I actually fancy the glutinous rice in between
6. Peanut is very "peanutty"

Will I be coming back again for this cake?
Well, maybe?
(and I would like to try the other menu as well)

Rainbow dessert in wishlist for next visit =)

♨ Dotty's TTDI food review

A fairly new breakfast / brunch place in TTDI
Dotty's has made an impact by following the salted egg yolk trend
From the on point salted egg yolk croissant doughnut to authentic hot meals
I would say they (almost) ace in everything

Dotty's entrance is quite an awe actually
It looks like most french building that I've seen in Paris
almost similar to the Laduree but of different shades of colours here

I would visit Dotty's just to take a picture of the entrance

Main Entrance

Menu on point

Here's the Famous Salted Egg Yolk Croissant Doughnuts (RM11)
the australians called this combination - Croinuts
(pretty delicious snack served in Aus actually!)

Because it's really a hot seller
they are serving it at specific times
Weekdays : 12noon, 2pm, 4pm
Weekends : 11am, 1pm, 3pm

Better go on time before it is sold off!

Salted Egg Yolk Croissant Doughnut

You can't distinctly tell the taste of croissant and doughnuts
it is so well blended that it just melt in your mouth!
The salted egg yolk layer on top
as well as in between
is really nice

I would totally do this again. Totally.

The only minus point is it is already cold when served
I would think it will be 5x better if it's freshly baked and hot!

Layers of salted egg yolk

We tried the Scotch Egg (RM26)
where it is served with rocket leaves, freshly baked bread, and sweet potato fries

The scotch egg on top is actually not bad
it is like a japanese ramen egg (almost hard boiled) wrapped in meat forming a ball-liked structure
it might look really small
but bloody hell REALLY filling!

Scotch Egg (RM26)
 and the French Toast (RM18)
Baked brioche stuffed with kaya and caramelized bananas

Everything is not bad but we think the french toast itself is a bit dry
not fluffy enough though

Opposite Place, Melaka (Review)

I've stumbled across Opposite Place when I was instagram-surfing
went into their website
and I fell in love with this place immediately

It is indeed a very interesting place
situated less than 5 minutes walk away from Jonker Street
very strategic and convenient

It was refurbished from a post-war building
old shop houses that look really narrow and tiny from the outside
but once you get into the room
you will definitely be fascinated

the ceiling is so high up
and the design of the house is simply amazing
even the bricks, they are the original portuguese-made bricks
the designers "scrap off" the outer paint to reveal the historical wall
preserving just as the way they are for the past x-numbers of years
very very artsy

Sharen, a very friendly lady brought us to our room at the 1st floor
we were really pleased to see our room
jaw-dropped literally
and they look exactly like the photos we saw in their website

Bedroom area + Bath area

The entire room

The globe, that add a hint of classic classy =)

I really love the bath area
I would sleep in the bathtub (really)
the entire room is so comfortable
classy, and perfectly tranquil!

Me enjoying my bubble bath!

Room deco

They even have Nespresso machine!

 Set downstairs in Opposite Place
is where Eat @ 18 brew and serve their fragrant coffee
the scent of freshly baked bread is everywhere

Eat @ 18, Courtyard View

and art piece on the wall of Eat @ 18

Opposite place is catered to those that are seeking for luxurious boutique hotel
this is indeed a very exclusive hotel
the details are as shown :

There's 2 types of rooms in Opposite Place
1. East Suite
2. West Suite (the one we stayed)

Price : RM699.90 per night
(can book from their website / Airbnb )

Ample of parking within 5minutes walking distance
( parking tickets provided by Sharen)

We were really happy with our stay
and we will DEFINITELY be back again in the future!
and we really love the food in Eat @ 18! very genuine and tasty!

Last but not least
a sneak peak of the powder room of the East Room offered by Opposite Place
next time, I want to stay here!
